Major upgrade for Devonport – bound Ferry Terminal
When viewed literally, a gangway is a link between shore and the sea – so we’ve tried to take that idea and let it influence the new renovation we’re doing to the downtown ferry terminal. The old gangway and pontoon at the Devonport-bound ferry terminal were in a dire state, so Manson is in the process of giving it a full refurbishment. We’ve taken the idea of a gangway as a link and made it metaphorical, linking the architectural aesthetic of the surrounding streets and buildings in the lines and materials of the gangway. We’re very happy with the work so far and believe it will well and truly modernise the waterfront while still being sympathetic to the history of downtown Auckland. We look forward to showing it off in Featured Projects once it’s finished.
